What size dumpster do I need?

6-yard ($429)

About two pickup-truck loads. Right-sized for a small bathroom remodel, a shed or half-garage cleanout, a small deck tear-down, or dense renovation debris like tile and plaster.

14-yard ($449)

About three to four pickup-truck loads. The sweet spot for most homeowners. Full garage cleanout, basement cleanout in an older home, mid-size kitchen or bath renovation, attic clear-out before listing. If you're not sure which size, this is the safe pick.

20-yard ($499) — Most Popular

About five to six pickup-truck loads. Right-sized for whole-house decluttering, single-layer asphalt roof tear-off, mid-size renovation generating drywall and framing, or a full estate cleanout where the contents are mostly furniture. Roof debris runs heavy — a typical 2,000 sq ft home generates 3-4 tonnes of shingle waste, roughly $200-340 in overage at $135/tonne past the 1.5-tonne cap, and total stays below the 30 or 40-yard's base for most homes.

30-yard ($849) and 40-yard ($899)

Contractor tier. Right-sized for a full gut-rehab, major addition, multi-room renovation, commercial site clearout, or roof tear-off with two layers of shingles. Most homeowners don't need this size; most contractors on a serious project do.

If you're stuck between sizes, size up. The $20-50 gap between sizes is almost always less than the cost of a second haul.

Where can I put a roll-off?

Standard placement is your driveway, heavy end over a flat, hard surface. Asphalt handles a roll-off fine. Paver driveways and stamped concrete need extra care — tell us upfront and we'll bring 2x12 boards.

  • Vertical clearance — about 22 feet for a loaded delivery truck. Mature trees on older streets can be a constraint.
  • Width — most driveways take a roll-off, but the truck needs a straight pull-in. Narrower driveways and tight side streets are the recurring tight spots.
  • Slope — steeply pitched driveways need the can placed across the slope, not down it.
  • Overhead wires and gates — the two most common surprises. Snap a photo of your driveway entrance and text it to (289) 886-3329 if you're not sure.

For lawn placement, we use planks under the wheels. We don't recommend lawn drops for projects running more than a couple weeks, or if it's been raining.

Do I need a permit for a roll-off?

Private property

Driveway, lawn, your own parking pad: no permit. The vast majority of residential rentals.

Public street, sidewalk, or right-of-way

Yes — a Road Occupancy Permit through your municipality. Rules and lead time vary by town — check the relevant town page for specifics (Bowmanville, Whitby, Oshawa, Cobourg, and others each have their own local process).

We don't pull permits for customers — confirm placement with your municipality first, then book delivery.

What can't go in a roll-off dumpster?

  • Liquids and chemicals — paint, oil, solvents, pesticides. Route through your local household hazardous waste depot.
  • Batteries, any kind — lithium especially; transfer stations reject loads over a single power-tool battery.
  • Asbestos-containing materials — specialized hauler required.
  • Fridges, freezers, ACs — regulated refrigerants, special handling. $50 if loaded unannounced.
  • Mattresses — fine, routed to a proper recycler on our end, just flag them ahead.
  • Concrete, dirt, gravel, asphalt — not included in standard pricing; call us, special pricing sometimes available.

Roll-offs for commercial customers

Same up-front pricing as residential — no contractor surcharge, no volume discount, same 7-day rental window. What's different is operational: recurring delivery patterns, multi-site rotations, and weight-aware sizing for heavy debris. Call (289) 886-3329 to talk through a recurring account.

How does a roll-off compare to junk removal or the Hybrid?

Roll-off Dumpster

Project runs across days, volume's bigger, you can do the loading, you have driveway space. $429–$899 by size.

Junk Removal

You don't want to load it yourself, volume's small to medium, access is awkward, or items are mostly heavy pieces. $150 minimum to $745 full load.

Hybrid

Bin delivered plus a crew for 2-4 hours to handle the heavy stuff, you handle the rest. $799–$1,199.

Not sure which fits? Call (289) 886-3329 and we'll point you at the cheaper option.

Service area

We dispatch from a single depot in Orono, ON, covering Durham Region, Northumberland County, Peterborough, and the City of Kawartha Lakes.
